Those Problems with the roof at All Saints
Sadly we were not successful in getting a government grant for the repair of the roof of our beautiful church! This is a considerable set-back! We felt that as stewards of a Grade 1 Listed Church, we had made a very good case. However, we are not down-hearted. Instead we are reorganising!
We recognise that right now the church has two particular tasks. Our main work is all about helping people on their journeys in knowing and loving love God better. We then have a second, important but distinct task in giving a lead in the stewardship of the amazing treasure that is our parish church building.
When people come into our church they become aware of the millions of prayers that have been offered there over five centuries and more years. The architectural sensitivity of generations has bequeathed to us a sacred space that whispers God’s love wherever one looks.
The PCC has therefore decided to set up a special Building Appeal Group to steer this community stewardship and we are recruiting people with expertise and goodwill to be part of this effort.
We will be re-applying for part of a second tranche of money which the government will make available in the autumn and seeking the help of other funding bodies. Meanwhile, if you have a mind to organise a roof-repairing project her in Kenton, please get in touch.
