For Advent All Saints’ Church will be hosting an Advent Calendar with a difference!
Each day in December a box will be opened to reveal a miniature scene based on a Christmas carol/song. More details about viewing it will be given nearer the time.
For now we need volunteers to decorate boxes please! We’ll provide the shoe-boxes which have already been decorated in Christmas wrapping paper on the outside. We need you to decorate the inside!
Choose a Christmas carol (there’s a list below in case you need some prompting) and use the title or some of the lyrics to inspire you to create a
miniature scene. Jane will keep a list of who's doing which carol so there's no duplication. You can use ornaments, figurines, toy animals, toy people, hand draw cut outs, Play Doh figures, Lego, Barbies, computer printed images, etc.! There’s no limit to your creativity (just like the Scarecrows)!
For example, you could choose In The Bleak Midwinter and do a modern scene based on the words “His mother only, in her maiden bliss, Worshipped the beloved with a kiss” and set a scene with a doll dressed as Mary kissing a baby doll!
To get your creative juices flowing there are some websites of alternative Advent Calendars below that might help!
There is no charge to take part. There will be opportunities to donate to the village’s Outdoor Table Tennis Fund during viewing of Advent boxes.
All boxes need to be completed by Monday 30th November so you’ve got a month!
For more information and to take part please send us a message on our All Saint’s Kenton’s Facebook page or speak to Jane Carr on 899087.
Thank you!
